Madrid is the capital and most populous city of Spain. It had a population of over 3.4 million in the city proper in 2025, and a metropolitan area population of approximately 6.8 million. Madrid is the second-largest city in the European Union (EU), after Berlin, and its metropolitan area is the second-largest in the EU, after Paris. The municipality covers an area of 605.77 km2 (233.89 sq mi). Madrid lies on the River Manzanares in the central part of the Iberian Peninsula at about 660 m (2,170 ft) above mean sea level. The capital city of both Spain and the surrounding autonomous community of Madrid, it is the political, economic and cultural centre of the country.

Crisis en Ceuta y actualidad política, en directo | Tensión y nerviosismo entre los migrantes en el traslado desde las playas al puerto de Ceuta
El operativo de traslado de migrantes desde las playas Benítez y El Trampolín hacia el puerto de Ceuta, que ha comenzado poco antes de las 7.00 de este viernes, ha vivido varios momentos de tensión. Los migrantes, organizados en pequeños grupos, se agolpaban junto a las unidades de la UIP, y al tratar de cruzar por la vía designada se ha producido un apelotonamiento. La policía ha disparado al aire y golpeado a varios de ellos, que llevaban cerca de una hora aguantando el empuje de los centenares que se agolpan tras ellos. La situación ya está controlada y el traslado se ha reanudado, separando a los menores de los primeros grupos. Pasada la primera hora caótica, las unidades de Policía han comenzado el traslado a pie, que discurrirá durante algo más de un kilómetro hasta el centro de acogida temporal. Miles de personas aguardan el desalojo mientras las nuevas instalaciones tienen capacidad para algo más de 1.700 personas. El PSOE busca cómo salvar el “vacío legal” planteado por el Tribunal Supremo de las devoluciones en caliente de quienes llegan a nado. El pasado 8 de julio, los magistrados confirmaron que el artículo de la ley de extranjería que regula el rechazo exprés no es aplicable para todos los extranjeros que intenten cruzar irregularmente la frontera por tierra o mar, sino solo “para aquellos que intentan hacerlo superando los elementos de contención fronterizos establecidos, como las vallas”. Es decir, el rechazo en frontera no aplica en el caso de entradas por agua si no hay un elemento físico de contención. Tres semanas después de la resolución, todo saltó por los aires con la avalancha de entre 70.000 y 80.000 personas que entraron en Ceuta, a quienes las fuerzas de seguridad no podían retornar automáticamente obedeciendo al alto tribunal. Ahora, los socialistas estudian una reforma de la ley para superar ese escollo normativo —que tras el cruce se solventó transitoriamente con la instalación de una boya de 500 metros—, según aseguran fuentes socialistas a EL PAÍS. Concierto de Shakira en Madrid hoy: cuándo empieza, a qué hora abren las puertas del Estadio de Villaverde y cómo llegar
La espera ha terminado. Ocho años después de su último concierto en España, Shakira actúa este viernes 18 de septiembre de 2026 en Madrid . Una fecha que quedará grabada en la memoria de los fans de la artista colombiana. Será el primero de los 12 conciertos que va a dar en la capital de España, y que constituye la residencia europea de la artista. Las fechas programadas son los días 18, 19, 20, 25, 26 y 27 de septiembre y 2, 3, 4, 9, 10 y 11 de octubre de 2026. Shakira regresa con 'Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran', la gira que en 2025 rompió el récord Guinness como la más taquillera de la historia. Se espera una asistencia de 57.000 personas en cada concierto, por lo que se superarán los 600.000 espectadores durante este mes. Los conciertos se celebran en el Estadio Shakira , un recinto temporal integrado en Iberdrola Music. Pero este recinto acoge además el 'Macondo Park' , un parque cultural con ocho pabellones dedicados a la música , la gastronomía y donde se podrán disfrutar de diferentes actividades. La residencia celebrará las raíces culturales compartidas y destacará a Madrid como escenario global. Durante esos días la ciudad acogerá conciertos, exposiciones, charlas, talleres, cine, gastronomía y literatura bajo el nombre Es Latina. La apertura estimada del recinto será a las 15:30. Mientras que a las 16:00 será el inicio de las actividades en los pabellones de Macondo Park. La apertura del Estadio Shakira será a las 18:30 y dos horas más tarde dará comienzo el concierto, previsto para las 20:30 horas. El show concluirá alrededor de las 23:00 horas. Y a las 00:15 finalizarán todas las actividades en los alrededores. No obstante, la organización explica que estos horarios están sujetos a posibles cambios. Aplican al primer fin de semana de la Residencia de Shakira (18, 19 y 20 de septiembre). Para el resto de conciertos los horarios serán similares y los comunicarán con antelación a los respectivos shows. Para llegar al Macondo Park, ubicado al sur del barrio de Villaverde Alto-Casco Histórico de Villaverde , hay diferentes alternativas en transporte público. Se puede llegar en línea 3 y 12 del Metro de Madrid, las estaciones más cercanas son Villaverde Alto (línea 3) y Los Espartales (línea 12). El horario de funcionamiento es el habitual, de 6:00 a 1:30 h. Pero a la salida del evento, entre las 00:00 y las 1:30 h, se reforzará el servicio de ambas líneas. Las estaciones de Villaverde Alto (líneas C4a, C4b y C5) y San Cristóbal Industrial (línea C3) son las opciones de Cercanías. El horario habitual de funcionamiento del servicio es de 5:30 a 23:45 h. También están disponible los autobuses interurbanos, con las líneas 428, 432, 441, 442, 443, 446, 447, 448, 450, 455, 461, 488, N805 y N807. En autobús se puede llegar en la línea 22 (Legazpi – Villaverde Alto), línea 79 (Legazpi – Villaverde Alto) y línea T41 (Villaverde Alto – Polígono Industrial de La Resina). Para regresar, la EMT ha activado un servicio de lanzaderas gratuitas entre Villaverde y la glorieta de Atocha , con una única parada intermedia en Legazpi. Los viajeros podrán acceder a la lanzadera en la Gran Vía de Villaverde, junto a la calle de San Jenaro (parada 5964). Se hará una parada en la glorieta de Legazpi (parada 1171) hasta llegar al intercambiador de Atocha (parada 5853). Todos los días de concierto, el servicio estará operativo entre las 23:00 y las 2:00, con una frecuencia de diez minutos entre las 23:00 y la 00:00, de entre siete y ocho minutos entre la medianoche y la 1:00 y de 15 minutos entre la 1:00 y las 2:00.

Cambios en los parquímetros de Madrid durante los fines de semana: se empezará a cobrar domingos y festivos
El Pleno del Ayuntamiento de Madrid dio luz verde el 24 de marzo de 2026 al texto definitivo que modifica la Ordenanza de Movilidad Sostenible (OMS) . El objetivo es garantizar que la capital siga avanzando en materia de sostenibilidad y continúe mejorando los niveles de calidad del aire. La normativa salió adelante con los votos a favor del Partido Popular y la oposición del resto de las formaciones. El delegado de Urbanismo, Medio Ambiente y Movilidad, Borja Carabante , aseguró entonces que la ciudad «lleva cuatro años consecutivos cumpliendo con la directiva europea gracias a todas las actuaciones que se han implementado de Madrid 360». El político señaló que la estrategia se sustenta, en gran medida, en el marco legal que establece la OMS, sobre todo para el funcionamiento de sus tres zonas de bajas emisiones: Madrid ZBE, Plaza Elíptica y Distrito Centro. En este sentido, son muchas las novedades que se incorporan. Una de las más importantes es la que tiene que ver con los parquímetros . Y es que se podrá empezar a cobrar en días y horas que, hasta el momento, eran gratis. Estos son todos los detalles. La Ordenanza de Movilidad Sostenible contempla modificaciones en el horario del Servicio de Estacionamiento Regulado (SER) de Madrid durante los fines de semana . Así pues, se empezará a cobrar el parquímetro pasadas las 15.00 horas de los sábados, los domingos y festivos. Entre semana también podría ser de pago más allá de las 21.00 horas. La norma aclara que esta medida, que tendrá que ser solicitada por parte de los distritos y recibir el visto bueno del área de Movilidad, solo será aplicada en zonas de alta demanda, en determinados días o en momento puntuales que requieran la ampliación. «Sin carácter permanente», asegura. La iniciativa surge de la necesidad de «garantizar la disponibilidad de aparcamiento para residentes en barrios que concentran una intensa actividad comercial, cultural, deportiva, turística y de ocio, provocando una alta afluencia de visitantes». El SER también se extenderá a 18 nuevos barrios , 14 de ellos nuevos, de seis distritos siempre que lo requieran los vecinos. Se crearían 51.819 plazas nuevas en Fuencarral-El Pardo, Latina, Carabanchel, Usera, Ciudad Lineal, llegando por primera vez a Puente de Vallecas. La ampliación se llevará a cabo de forma gradual y con un acuerdo favorable de la junta de distrito, previa consulta a ciudadanos y asociaciones. La extensión se habilitará en dos fases . El texto establece que antes del 31 de diciembre de 2029 alcanzará a los barrios ya contemplados en la Ordenanza de Movilidad Sostenible que se aprobó en septiembre de 2021: Peñagrande, de Fuencarral-El Pardo; Valdezarza, de Moncloa-Aravaca; Opañel y San Isidro, de Carabanchel, y Costillares, de Ciudad Lineal. Antes del 31 de diciembre de 2035, continuará la expansión para las nuevas áreas incluidas en el proyecto: Valverde, de Fuencarral-El Pardo; Lucero, Aluche, Los Cármenes y Puerta del Ángel, del distrito de Latina; Puerta Bonita, Abrantes, San Isidro, Opañel y Vista Alegre, de Carabanchel; Zofío y Orcasur, de Usera; Pueblo Nuevo, Quintana, Concepción, de Ciudad Lineal, y San Diego, Palomeras Bajas y Numancia, de Puente de Vallecas.
