General Information

Madrid is the capital and most populous city of Spain. It had a population of over 3.4 million in the city proper in 2025, and a metropolitan area population of approximately 6.8 million. Madrid is the second-largest city in the European Union (EU), after Berlin, and its metropolitan area is the second-largest in the EU, after Paris. The municipality covers an area of 605.77 km2 (233.89 sq mi). Madrid lies on the River Manzanares in the central part of the Iberian Peninsula at about 660 m (2,170 ft) above mean sea level. The capital city of both Spain and the surrounding autonomous community of Madrid, it is the political, economic and cultural centre of the country.

Ceuta causa otro choque entre la Justicia y el Ejecutivo por la reserva de un informe policial
El comisario general de Extranjería y Fronteras de la Policía, Julián Ávila, explicó esta semana de forma pormenorizada a sus superiores cómo la magistrada de la Audiencia Nacional, María Tardón, les había pedido guardar silencio sobre el informe policial que estaban elaborando en relación al paso de unas 70.000 migrantes a Ceuta los pasados días 30 y 31 de julio. En un documento que remitió a la cúpula policial, expuso que la jueza había pedido “máxima reserva” a miembros de su equipo a través de una llamada telefónica, diez días después del encargo. Este hecho ha vuelto a provocar un choque de primer orden entre el Gobierno y el Poder Judicial. El ministro del Interior, Fernando Grande-Marlaska, se quejó este jueves de haber permanecido ajeno a la redacción del documento, que consideró “de gran interés” para que el Ejecutivo “ejerza con el mayor acierto sus funciones constitucionales”, pero los jueces (tanto la presidenta del Poder Judicial como la Sala de Gobierno de la Audiencia Nacional) defendieron que se trata de mantener la independencia de la justicia. El Ministerio de Juventud e Infancia busca vías para aliviar el colapso de los sistemas de acogida en Ceuta, pero la posición política del PP bloquea las primeras soluciones. Hace dos semanas que el departamento que dirige Sira Rego puso sobre la mesa públicamente la opción de trasladar a unas 500 niñas de manera inmediata a la Península, donde se distribuirían en centros con capacidad para entre 20 y 30 menores a través de un convenio firmado con entidades privadas. El Ministerio pone el foco sobre la negativa de Ceuta a realizar el trámite, mientras fuentes oficiales de la ciudad autónoma alegan ahora que no tienen constancia “por escrito” de la existencia de esas plazas en organizaciones sin ánimo de lucro, y señalan que no es habitual que estas estén disponibles al margen de los acuerdos marco de cada comunidad. La ruta en la sierra de Madrid que es perfecta para hacer en septiembre: rodeada de cascadas y en un entorno natural privilegiado
Aunque la mayoría de españoles ya han acabado sus vacaciones de verano, las altas temperaturas continúan afectando a España. Esto hace que recurramos a opciones como la playa o la piscina para escapar del calor, aunque cada vez es más habitual optar por la montaña . De esta forma, es posible realizar actividades de ocio en el campo y, al mismo tiempo, refugiarnos de las altas temperaturas. En este sentido, son muchas las personas que optan por realizar rutas de senderismo los fines de semana en zonas frescas y sombreadas donde el calor no acecha tanto. La Comunidad de Madrid está repleta de impresionantes parajes donde practicar senderismo en época de calor. Entre la amplia oferta de rutas aptas para realizar este mes de septiembre en la región, existe una que destaca por su espectacular belleza, al estar rodeada de sorprendentes cascadas. Hablamos de la ruta de las cascadas de San Agustín de Guadalix , un recorrido circular a lo largo de este municipio madrileño, situado a 30 kilómetros al norte de Madrid. El recorrido, de unos 8 kilómetros, tiene una dificultad baja por lo que es apto para todo tipo de edades. El inicio y final de la ruta se realiza en San Agustín de Guadalix, en la denominada Zona Recreativa de los Patos . Alrededor del Polígono Industrial Norte, donde se ubica este punto del municipio madrileño, será posible aparcar su vehículo con facilidad. Tal y como informa Wikiloc, el camino lleva a tener que cruzar hasta tres puentes de madera antes de llegar al Charco del Aliso . A escasos metros, precisamente, encontramos la primera cascada: Becerra, que cuenta con una pequeña caída de agua formada por una presa construída a principios del siglo XX. El sendero atraviesa después el Puente de San Antonio para llegar hasta la joya de la ruta: la cascada del Hervidero . Para acceder a su parte baja es necesario descender por unas escaleras. El agua del río Guadañix cae en dos chorros, lo que la convierte en una de las pocas cascadas con dos saltos de agua en Madrid. La ruta continúa por una pista, hasta que llegamos al Torreón para después descender por el Camino del Carril de las Mentiras y Avenida de Madrid. A escasos metros encontramos el final del trayecto. El sonido del agua de las cascadas acompaña todo el trayecto, marcado por un entorno natural impresionante, atravesado por fresnos, chopos y praderas que hacen las delicias de los amantes de la naturaleza y la tranquilidad. No obstante, uno de los grandes atractivos de esta ruta senderista es su nivel de dificultad, muy asequible para todas las edades e ideal para principiantes. Y es que solo cuenta con dos cuestas un poco empinadas y el desnivel es de 174 metros . Por tanto, se convierte en una opción perfecta para quienes quieran realizar una actividad en familia o con amigos rodeados de naturaleza en esta época del año.

Llega septiembre y Ciudad Lineal se viste de fiesta. El distrito madrileño celebra sus fiestas locales del 5 al 14 de este mes. Durante diez días las calles se llenan de música, color y actividades gratuitas. Se espera que miles de personas, entre ellas vecinos y visitantes de otras zonas de la capital, se reúnan en torno a este motivo de alegría vecinal. El epicentro de este vaivén de gente será el recinto ferial , que se encuentra entre la avenida de las Trece Rosas y la calle de Santa Genoveva. La entrada a esta zona será libre hasta completar aforo, tal y como indicarán los responsables de cada actividad y de seguridad. Allí hay programadas carreras populares, conciertos, concursos de repostería, torneos de juegos de mesa , gincanas y muchas otras clases de entretenimientos indicados para gente de todas las edades. A continuación te mostramos el programa completo, el horario de cada día y qué conciertos habrá. La principal atracción de las fiestas de Ciudad Lineal este año 2026 son sus conciertos. El distrito ofrece las actuaciones de distintos artistas y agrupaciones de manera gratuita, todas ellas en el escenario principal del recinto ferial. Desde el 5 al 14 tocarán Cepeda, Nacha Pop y La Década Prodigiosa , además de un tributo a Michael Jackson . La vuelta a la rutina después de las vacaciones de verano se hace menos cuesta arriba teniendo en el horizonte esta variedad de planes dentro del barrio. Del 5 al 14 de septiembre disfruta de la oferta de música, deporte, gastronomía y cultura con los tuyos, en tu hogar.
