General Information

Madrid is the capital and most populous city of Spain. It had a population of over 3.4 million in the city proper in 2025, and a metropolitan area population of approximately 6.8 million. Madrid is the second-largest city in the European Union (EU), after Berlin, and its metropolitan area is the second-largest in the EU, after Paris. The municipality covers an area of 605.77 km2 (233.89 sq mi). Madrid lies on the River Manzanares in the central part of the Iberian Peninsula at about 660 m (2,170 ft) above mean sea level. The capital city of both Spain and the surrounding autonomous community of Madrid, it is the political, economic and cultural centre of the country.

Esta madrugada la FIFA ha designado al árbitro esloveno Slavko Vincic para dirigir la final del domingo. El informe elaborado por la Unidad Central Operativa (UCO) de la Guardia Civil sobre las finanzas del ex secretario de Organización del PSOE Santos Cerdán cifra en más de 300.000 euros los beneficios que él y su familia pudieron obtener, ya fuera en pagos o en bienes, de una de las empresas claves de la trama, Servinabar, y otras sociedades relacionadas entre 2015 y 2024. La directora general de la Guardia Civil, Mercedes González, ha declarado este viernes ante el juez Santiago Pedraz, instructor del caso Leire Díez, que se siente una “víctima” política de la supuesta trama encabezada por Santos Cerdán, ex secretario de Organización del PSOE, y la exmilitante socialista Leire Díez para “desestabilizar” procedimientos judiciales sensibles para el partido, el Gobierno o el entorno del presidente Pedro Sánchez. Según confirman varias fuentes jurídicas presentes en el interrogatorio celebrado en la Audiencia Nacional, al que González ha acudido como imputada, la máxima responsable del instituto armado ha afirmado que nunca ha colaborado con ninguna “cloaca”, ni ha participado en maniobras para boicotear sumarios. De hecho, sobre sus “dos” encuentros con Díez, los ha minimizado y ha añadido: “Si Leire me hubiera dicho que iba de su parte [Cerdán], no me hubiera sentado con ella”.Seguir leyendo
